True Blood Season 7: Premiere

Ok, so who thinks Tara is really dead?  We didn’t actually see her die and she seemed to have the upper hand the last time we saw her.  Lettie Mae isn’t the most reliable witness and she was already in shock.  Maybe Tara killed the other vamp and took off after another one.  Also, shouldn’t Pam have felt it when (if) Tara died?  Of course, Rutina Wesley says Tara is really dead but what is she supposed to say?  I guess we’ll see.

Sookie can be really dumb sometimes.  I realize she was upset with Alcide but she’s like catnip to vamps and there are a bunch of crazy ones running around out there so she decides to take off by herself.  The people of Bon Temps are stupid too.  I realize in a crisis, people need someone to blame but why Sookie?  Yes, she’s slept with a few vampires but she’s not currently with one so how did she cause this?  Why not blame Bill?  He’s a vampire who lives right in their town and he’s made a lot of questionable decisons.

Didn’t they say a few times last season that Sookie would lose her fairy powers if she kept using them?  I’m pretty sure I saw her throw a couple of light balls during the melee at Bellefleur’s.  And where’s Niall?

Who whistled and called off the Hep-V vamps?  Is there someone leading them to attack Bon Temps for a reason?  Was it just a signal the vamps had established ahead of time for their raids?

A prediction based on the teaser for this season.  Bill dies.  I’m probably totally and completely wrong but a couple of things in that trailer made it seem possible.  First, Sookie and Jessica hugging each other while crying.  Second, Sookie distraught and covered in what appears to be vamp blood.

Grimm – Season 3, Episodes 1 & 2: “The Ungrateful Dead” and “PTZD”

Grimm Season 3 Premiere

I’m so glad they were able to wrap up Zombie!Nick in a couple of episodes.  I know there will be lingering effects but I didn’t want to spend half the season with Nick on a rampage.  He didn’t seem to be as rage-y as the other people that had been affected.  They just randomly attacked anyone and everyone.  Nick stopped and listened to things first.

When Monroe, Juliette and Rosalee were throwing people off the top of those storage containers, I wonder how many of them died?  That was quite a distance to fall.

After the plane crashed, why did they show us the empty coffin?  We already knew Nick wasn’t in it, he got out before the crash.

Grimm: PTZD

For a Hexenbiest, Adalind is awfully squeamish.  I’m kind of over her storyline.  I like the actress but I feel like her character is kind of played out.  Since they killed (or did they?) Captain Renard’s brother, I guess they need someone to stir up trouble though.

The gang is trying to protect Nick, but he was seen by a lot of people.  He’s a police officer so it’s possible those people will see him again and recognize him.  What happens then?

How will Nick handle killing someone?  The video showed that it was, basically, self-defense but that guy wouldn’t have attacked Nick if he hadn’t come in seeing red.

Speaking of the video, what’s Renard going to do with it?  He’s done a pretty good job of helping Nick and the gang but I feel like his motives still aren’t quite known.  Is he really a good guy or is he trying to take over his family business?  Will he use that video against Nick at some point?

The Walking Dead: Season 4, Episode 1 – “30 Days Without An Accident”

Countdown to The Walking Dead Season 4: 2 Days

So, Rick isn’t using a gun.  Why?  I know he’s trying to show Carl a better way but that doesn’t mean he should leave himself unprotected.  Why was there a gun buried in the garden?  And, what’s up with the headphones?  If the walkers were to break down the fence, he wouldn’t hear them.

The pig was sick and they didn’t ask Herschel to look at it?  He’s a veterinarian!  What if what’s wrong with the pig (that they’re planning on eating) is contagious to humans?

Maybe they should come up with a way of attaching spikes to the fence so that the walkers impale themselves.  Or build more of those spike things by the gate and put them all around the outside.  It would keep the walkers from being able to gang up all in one spot.  Eventually, they are going to knock that fence down.  Also, someone needs to beat the kids for standing out there taunting the walkers.

So, Beth is hardening herself.  It didn’t even seem like she was all that into Zach and then she barely blinked when Daryl told her he was dead.  I know she says she can’t cry anymore but I think she’s withdrawing emotionally.  Can’t be hurt if you don’t care.  On the other side of that, Maggie and Glenn are contemplating a baby.  I wouldn’t want to get pregnant in those circumstances.

How cool would it be if Daryl actually had been a cop?  He took Zach’s death harder than Beth.  I think he feels bad now that he never answered Zach’s question.

They’ve set up a council now which makes sense.  No one person is making all the decisions and with so many people in the prison now, it’s likely to keep the tension at a  minimum.  What I don’t understand is why Carol is teaching the kids about weapons in secret?  It makes sense to teach them how to protect themselves.  Obviously they aren’t going to be sent out on supply runs but who knows when a stray walker might come along?  So, why wouldn’t she bring that up to the council?  I know Rick is probably against it because he’s gone the total opposite direction of where he was last year but the rest of the council would probably vote for it.

The Walking Dead Season 4 Premiere

Bob’s an alcoholic and he’s to blame for Zach dying, even if it was indirect and unintentional.  My question is why no one noticed the walkers on the roof of the building?  When you are approaching a building from a distance, you can usually see something sticking up on the roof unless it’s a tall building.  The store was a one story building.  Someone should have been able to see at least one walker or maybe the helicopter.

I kept hearing everyone associated with the show say that the threat this year wouldn’t be people or walkers but something everyone is familiar with.  I guess that’s going to be illness.  First, what made Patrick sick?  Something he ate, other people ate the same things?  If it’s an airborne illness of some sort, no one else seems to be sick.  He coughed all over the water supply and Carol turned the grill over to him so he’s probably spread whatever it is.  He also shook Daryl’s hand.  😦  Whatever it is, it’s fast acting since he went from healthy to dead in the course of a day.  And now Walker Patrick is locked in the cell block with all the sleeping people.

American Horror Story: Coven – Season 3, Episode 1: “Bitchcraft”

AHS: Coven: Bitchcraft

Anybody who has watched the show over the last two seasons knows how great Jessica Lange is.  The opening minutes of this episode proved that Kathy Bates is going to give her a run for her money.  Just sitting in front of the mirror, painting her face with blood, she gave an awesome performance, her face ever so slightly twitching.  If everything else about this season sucked, it would be worth watching to see these two together.

I know I can’t be the only one disturbed by the gang rape scene. I know this show pushes the boundaries of television shows, but that might have been a bridge too far.  I know Madison is not a nice person, but no one deserves that.  At least there was poetic justice for the ring leader.  What better punishment than being raped to death?

Is Misty Day dead, dead?  There was an episode of Amazing Stories called “Life on Death Row” with Patrick Swayze.  His character tried to escape and got struck by lightning.  After, he could heal people.  They tried to get a stay but he was executed anyway.  On his way to the morgue, a guard accidentally touched him and there was a spark.  He went around and got other people to touch him and the convict came back to life.  If Misty has the power to raise the dead, could she come back?  I find it hard to believe Lily Rabe was around just for that episode.

So far, it looks like most of the witches are bad.  Cordelia seems good but she’s trying so hard to keep her powers under control.  Fiona, Madison and Madame LaLaurie are all definitely evil.  Zoe and Marie Laveau seem good but did bad things (for good reasons).  We don’t really know enough about Nan and Queenie yet.  My question is, are these witches just inherently bad or does the power corrupt them?

What did Fiona expect to find when she dug up Madam LaLaurie?  She didn’t seem surprised to find her alive.  Does that mean that Nan’s power is only confined to the living and she can’t communicate with the dead?  I assume the potion that Marie Laveau gave to Madam LaLaurie was some type of sleeping death but wouldn’t she have starved to death or suffocated eventually?

Looks like from the preview, there is going to be a Frankenstein type plot this year too.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.  The show isn’t spooky enough…yet.  I noticed some pretty big names are listed as guest stars and not series regulars.  That probably means more deaths soon.

Once Upon A Time – Season 3, Episode 1: “Heart of the Truest Believer”

Once Upon a Time Season 3 Premiere

Greg and Tamara didn’t last long.  I suspect Greg isn’t actually dead, but in limbo.  His shadow has been separated from his body.  If it could be re-attached, would he be alive?

What does Pan want with Henry?  He said his heart but, from the previews, Henry is still alive so he doesn’t kill him and take his heart. Also, why is he stronger than Rumpelstiltskin?

I didn’t put together that everybody fighting was what was causing the storm.  Really, it seemed to pop up before they all started arguing.

Mermaids are bad, y’all.  Wasn’t that plot point borrowed from the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie?  Does that mean Jack Sparrow can be on the show?  Yes, please!  They’re both Disney after all.  I hear they’re bringing Ariel on this season but she’s not going to be like the other mermaids.

I’m glad Neal isn’t dead.  I like Michael Raymond-James but he keeps getting killed off all the shows I watch.  Maybe they’ll pair him up with Mulan.  I’d like to see more of her, Aurora and Prince Phillip.  I don’t think Neal and Emma have very good chemisty.  I’d rather see her with August but since he’s a little kid now (hopefully that can be reversed), I think she has better chemistry with Hook.

I hope next week we’ll get to see what’s going on in Storybrooke.

Revenge – Season 3, Episode 1: “Fear”

Revenge Season 3 Premiere

I know the show wants to get back to it’s roots and scuttle all the Initiative junk but I think some of the storyline wrap-ups in this episode were too quick and that maybe the story would have been better served by stretching them out over two or three episodes.

My poor Nolan had to serve SIX MONTHS in prison!  I’m glad the show flashed forward though.  I wouldn’t have wanted to see Nolan languishing in jail without his fabulous clothes.  Is he broke now?  I realize that the bad publicity tanked his company but shouldn’t he still have money?  It wasn’t really explained.

I feel like having Charlotte losing the baby was a bit of a cop out.  I know a lot of viewers disliked Declan but imagine all of the conflict possible in Charlotte having his baby.  It feels like once the show decided to write Declan out, they decided to leave no trace of him behind.  Also, not too sure what I think about the new, bitchier Charlotte.  If she’s turning into a mini-Victoria, I definitely don’t like it.  She was too sweet for that.  But, from what the promo implied, if she’s turning into a mini-Emily, I’m on board with that.  Her family is to blame for what happened to her biological father, her boyfriend and most likely her child as well.  If anyone feels a need for revenge, it would be her.

And Good-bye, Ashley!  Her exit felt a little rushed and even though I like the actress, I can’t say I’ll miss the character.

I think Jack lied about his feelings for Emily.  I think he really does love her but he just can’t be a part of her life.  He may believe she’s justified in her actions but it’s a dangerous world she lives in and he has to think about Carl first.  How better to keep her away than to make her think he doesn’t care?

I really hope Aiden going to Victoria is part of Emily’s plan and that he hasn’t really turned against her.  I definitely don’t want Emily with Daniel but I think Jack/Emily/Aiden is a good triangle.  Both guys love different parts of her.

Anyone else get an icky vibe from Victoria and Patrick?  Also, isn’t it a little suspicious that Patrick was the first name that Emily came up with when talking to Victoria since, supposedly, no one else knows about him?

Favorite Lines:

  • “And let’s never say the words “Carrion” or “Initiative” ever again.” — Emily
  • “Amen to that.” — Nolan

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season 1, Episode 1: “Pilot”

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Premiere

To quote my friend, Toga, EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!  Pretty much my feelings exactly.

Whedon!  So great to have Joss back on TV.  It’s been great seeing his success on the big screen but this is where he shines.

Coulson!  He’s alive!  There’s a mystery there.  I don’t think he was really in Tahiti.  The way he kept saying “It’s a magical place.” seems like something that was planted in his mind.  What can he never know?

Gunn and Book!  So great to see J. August Richards and Ron Glass, Whedonverse alums.  I was hoping Mike would stick around but I understand this show isn’t about the “superheroes.”

Fitz-Simmons are my favorite characters (after Coulson) so far.  They’re like twins with their own language.  They talked so fast, I couldn’t catch most of their dialogue but it all sounded like it should be in my favorite lines.

I’m undecided about Ward.  He was much more enjoyable when he was under the truth serum.  Melinda May is badass.  I want to know what happened to make her not want to be in the field anymore.  Right now, I could take or leave Skye.

Lola flies!!!

This was a pretty kick-ass pilot.  Set up all the characters.  A storyline that showed off the team’s strengths.  Cool gadgets.  Great dialogue.  Left some mystery to bring me back for more.

I squee’d when I saw the Mutant Enemy logo at the end but the stupid announcer was talking over the Grr! Arrgh!

Favorite Line:

  • “Sorry.  That corner was really dark and I couldn’t help myself.” — Coulson
  • “This is where they make the red tape, isn’t it?” — Coulson
  • “Gramzy?” — Ward

Castle – Season 6, Episode 1: “Valkyrie”

Castle Season 6 Premiere

She said yes!  As if there was ever any doubt?  This is a real, solid couple.  He supports her and lifts her up, not hold her back.

Kate’s in a different position now.  Before she was BWOC, like the Senior Homecoming queen.  Now, she’s like the Freshman college student.  She knows she can do it but she’s still trying to get her bearings.  Her new partner seems nice.  Glad to see that she isn’t just a resentful bitch trying to show Kate she doesn’t belong there.  That happens too much in TV/movies.  For every bitch in real life, there are so many more women who are supportive of each other.

Poor Castle!  He wants Kate to succeed but he just can’t help his natural curiosity gets the better of him.  He was having trouble adjusting to the “new normal” but he tried putting his feelings aside for Kate.  And of course, it’s gotten him into big trouble.

Alexis’ boyfriend has got to go.  She’s too smart for an idiot like that.  He seems sweet, but dumb.

Not enough Martha, Ryan and Esposito and NO Lainie!

Sleepy Hollow – Season 1, Episode 1: “Pilot”

Random thought from opening fight scene:  *Creepy mask guy is creepy.*  I also thought of the Monty Python sketch where the two knights are fighting in the forest.  “No, it’s only a scratch.” “Only a scratch?!  You’re headless!”

The scene where Ichabod nearly gets run over reminds me a bit of Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp.  There is a really similar scene in it.

So excited to see Clancy Brown!  The next scene, I tweeted this “Be careful” is usually a bad sign for the person who says it. Hope I’m wrong.”  I’ll be damned if I wasn’t.  Abbie finding the tapes Corbin (is that right?) made gives me hope he’ll be back in flashbacks.  I’ve loved Clancy Brown since he was The Kurgan in the original Highlander movie.

I knew there was something up with the priest as soon as I saw him.  After finding out that the Sheriff was on to the supernatural happenings in Sleepy Hollow, the looks the priest was giving him have a bit more context.  Hopefully, we’ll find out more about that.

I love that Ichabod is being played as a bit of a smartass and isn’t completely bumfuzzled by the present time.  I have to question how smart he is though when he’s locked in a jail cell and starts talking about killing someone.  From the Revolutionary War or not, you’ve got to know that admitting to beheading someone is not a good move.

I don’t understand how their police department works.  Where I’m from, the Sheriff’s department and the police department are not the same.  Sheriff is the county law enforcement, police is city.  They help each other out, but the leadership and officers are completely separate entities.  So, if Abbie’s partner was the Sheriff, why does it seem like Orlando Jones is her boss?

Speaking of which, I don’t trust Orlando Jones’ character (didn’t catch his name).  He has suspicious crazy eyes.  He’s either a bad guy, clueless or like Renard on Grimm.  Knows the score, not a bad guy or good guy, just out for himself.

The Horseman adapted to modern weapons pretty quickly.

I really liked this show.  Keeping my fingers crossed that Fox actually gives it a chance.  Looks like it’s going to be a wild ride.

Favorite Lines:

  • “First I shot him. Beheading him seemed like the next logical step.” — Ichabod
  • “You think he can hear us?”  “How the hell should I know?” — Random Police Officers

True Blood – Season 6, episode 1

True Blood Season 6 Premiere

So, one of my favorite shows is back tonight.  One of the things I love so much about True Blood is the pace.  Every episode seems to zoom by and, at the end, I’m always wanting more.

This ep started off with a bang.  I loved the way the whole sequence before the credits was handled, going back and forth between Bilith’s point of view and the action.

There was a lot going on in this episode and I loved the humor injected into the scenes to lighten some of the drama.  It looks like Andy’s storyline is going to be the one to keep the episodes from all being too dark.

I’m excited to see where the Bilith storyline is going to go.  I’ve always liked Bill and I hope that, eventually, he’ll be able to keep his humanity.

Sookie and Eric broke my heart a little tonight.  I’ve never been a Sookie/Eric shipper but it was still a great scene.

Dealing with vampires, blood is a pretty common element in this show.  I’ve never had a problem with any of it.  I was grossed out by pretty much every werewolf scene last night.  Seeing Alcide bite into that arm as a human and not wolf was pretty icky.

The whole political storyline with the Governor of Louisiana drags it down for me a bit.  I like Arliss Howard and he’s great as the Governor but that stuff took me out of the episode.

Favorite lines (paraphrased):

  • Naked, evil Superman — Jason
  • Fish piss and sand in your cooch. — Pam
  • Well, hog tits, Arlene! — Andy
